USGIF Accepting Applications for Awards, Scholarships

Graduating high school seniors, undergraduate, graduate and doctoral students studying geospatial intelligence, geography, political science, computer science, biology, anthropology, and any other fields in the natural and social sciences are encouraged to apply for a USGIF scholarship.

The U.S. Geospatial Intelligence Foundation (USGIF) is accepting nominations for its 2016 Awards and  Scholarship programs.

The Awards program annually recognizes the exceptional work of the global geospatial intelligence tradecraft's brightest minds and most-innovative organizations. The program acknowledges outstanding GEOINT achievements by individuals or teams in five categories: academia, community support, government, industry and military. Any individual, team or organization engaged in traditional GEOINT and ISR or a related field such as social media, open-source data, Big Data, the Internet of Things, data science, mobile, virtual and augmented reality, and more is encouraged to apply. The deadline for awards applications is March 18, 2016.

The Scholarship program provides promising students studying the geospatial sciences or a related field with scholarship awards to further the advancement of the geospatial intelligence tradecraft. In 2015, $99,000 in scholarships were awarded to 24 recipients. Since 2004, when the scholarship program began, $891,000 in scholarships have been awarded to more than 180 students. Scholarship applications must be submitted before April 22, 2016.
