At the Second Eye on Earth Summit, which was held Oct. 6-8, 2015, in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates (UAE), the UAE Space Agency highlighted the importance of satellite and space technology for environmental-monitoring purposes. More than 760 delegates from governments, UN bodies, the private sector and academia heard the UAE Space Agency declare support for and broader access to Earth-observation monitoring resources from international organizations and locally generated data from its DubaiSat.

Space assets are our ˜Eyes on Earth' and enable us to perform Earth observation, said Director General H.E Dr. Mohammed Al Ahbabi. GNSS and satellite communications are indispensable tools for environmental monitoring and management, and help pave the way for a sustainable, safe and ecologically balanced environment.

The Eye on Earth Summit aims to promote dialog and drive international action to change how data and information are collected, accessed, shared and used for real-world change. For more information on the summit, click here.
