Europe Heat Wave Grips Continent

by | Jun 29, 2026

Large portions of Europe experienced another intense early summer heat wave as temperatures climbed well above seasonal averages across southern and western regions. New imagery released by the European Space Agency illustrates the widespread impacts of persistent high-pressure systems that have produced prolonged periods of extreme heat.

The accompanying image of land surface temperature was captured by the Copernicus Sentinel-3 mission on June 23, 2026. The data were captured in the late morning, local time.
