Online students in the PSU Remote Sensing and Earth Observation Program learn to use computational methods to automate the analysis of Earth-observation data and integrate those skills into a GIS workflow.
The Department of Geography in the College of Earth and Mineral Sciences at The Pennsylvania State University continues to lead academically in geospatial sciences through its Remote Sensing and Earth Observation Program and its Online Geospatial Education Program Office.
An online Certificate Program is designed for GIS practitioners who lack formal education in the technologies and methods associated with remote sensing, image analysis and terrain modeling. The program explores theory and techniques for the effective use of remote sensing in a wide variety of geospatial applications, such as the environment and energy, water and other natural resources, agriculture and forestry, urban and regional planning, transportation and infrastructure management, defense and business intelligence, homeland security, and emergency response.
The program also features an online Master of GIS Program for those who are only able to study part-time and at a distance, as well as more than 30 online classes intended for professional development.
