Aurora, Colo., Feb. 8, 2013“Merrick & Company (www.merrick.com), a global leader in light detection and ranging (LiDAR), digital orthophotography, hyperspectral imaging, and geographic information systems (GIS) data integration, is pleased to announce the release of Version 7.1 of the Merrick Advanced Remote Sensing (MARS®) software suite. The MARS® software suite provides comprehensive support for LiDAR point cloud visualization, data management, automated data processing, LiDAR quality control, and geospatial data production.

The newest version of MARS® provides many software enhancements and new features, which improve data throughput and application usability. This release focuses on significant performance improvements of Merrick's automated QC Module (which tests against the new USGS National Geospatial Program's LiDAR Base Specification Version 1.0) and batch export module.  Furthermore, this release provides support for Version 1.4 of the ASPRS LAS specification. Our new release continues to build on the foundation of Version 7.0 and offers over 300 improvements that directly support the end-user. Our main goal is to continue adding functional and performance advancements to the application while being responsive to the market's changing needs, stated Matt Bethel, Director of Technology for Merrick's GeoSpatial Solutions group.

Version 7.1 MARS® will be demonstrated publicly at the upcoming International LiDAR Mapping Forum (ILMF) to be held in Denver, Colorado from Feb. 11 – 13, 2013 at the Hyatt Regency Denver at Colorado Convention Center. MARS® software demonstrations will be conducted at Merrick & Company’s exhibit at ILMF (Booth #45).
