Map of the Month: Purchasing Power for New Automobiles, Germany 2018

GfK’s Map of the Month for October illustrates the distribution of 2018 purchasing power for new automobiles in Germany.

Per capita purchasing power for new automobile purchases varies widely across Germany. Among the country’s five largest cities, the top spot goes to Munich (€513), followed closely by Frankfurt (€447), Hamburg (€429) and Cologne (€428). Berlin “ the nation’s capital and most populous city “ lags significantly behind (€269).

Hotspots in Germany’s mid-sized cities (500,000+ inhabitants) can be found in Stuttgart (€488), Düsseldorf (€467), Hannover (€452), Bremen (€417) and Dresden (€415).

These and similar insights on regional purchasing power allow retailers and manufacturers to tap more market potential and adjust their promotional strategies based on regional purchasing preferences.
