Leica Geosystems Protects Its Original Accessories with Security Label to Ensure Best Quality and Performance

NORVROSS, Ga., May 28, 2014—Leica Geosystems, leading supplier of geospatial solutions, introduces a security label to its range of original accessories. The label – featuring a unique code – will help customers to identify quickly whether an accessory is genuine or not, providing reassurance that the product is optimally aligned to Leica Geosystems instruments and will achieve the highest levels of overall performance. All Leica Geosystems Original Accessories produced from now on are delivered with security labels.

The new labelling solution will be used on all Leica Geosystems Original Accessories, which include both mechanical and optical tools such as prisms, tribrachs, poles and tripods and electrical equipment like batteries, cables, memory cards and USB sticks. The outstanding quality of Original Accessories is part of a complete, harmonized solution. Leica Geosystems equipment performs at its best and safest with Original Accessories developed by Leica Geosystems.

Assurance of authenticity

The security label allows customers to confirm the authenticity of an accessory at purchase, wherever they are, via smartphones or the Leica Geosystems’ customer portal “myWorld”. The label include protected logos and a hologram to aid recognition as well as a unique security code that can be read via a QR code reader or manually entered via the Leica Geosystems myWorld customer portal.

“Previously, it was almost impossible to distinguish easily between genuine Leica Geosystems Original Accessories and counterfeit products,” explains Gerhard Soenser, product manager for original accessories at Leica Geosystems. “We encourage all our customers to use the unique security code to ensure that they benefit from the reliability and quality that comes with a genuine Leica Geosystems product,” says Gerhard Soenser and emphasizes that “The advanced security system has been designed to provide a quick and easy way for customers to know that an accessory is a true part of the Leica Geosystems complete solution. In addition, we are also working alongside our dealers to protect their businesses from any potential threat posed by online shops and to make sure that their customers remain satisfied.”

Detailed information is available from all authorized Leica Geosystems representatives.

Registered customers of the myWorld portal can validate the authenticity of the accessory at:
