ENVITIA Launches Discovery 5 – Freeing Legacy Geospatial Data from Desk Drawers

ENVITIA are delighted to announce the release of Discovery 5, a leading-edge geospatial data discovery and processing platform. ENVITIA Discovery has traditionally provided a key technology in UK and US Military systems; managing, cataloguing and transforming geospatial data into forms deliverable in deployed systems using an intuitive browser based search capability.

ENVITIA Discovery 5 significantly improves on this capability, delivering a highly scalable geospatial data warehouse, web services and portal which can consume large amounts of new and legacy geospatial data.  A sophisticated data harvesting mechanism captures and optionally generates metadata profiles enabling faster and more precise search.  Once catalogued the data can be viewed and combined using significantly enhanced search capabilities in preparation for delivery in a wide range of forms including

  • spatial databases
  • a range of transactional web services such as WFS and WCS
  • published through WMS
  • standards compliant catalogue interfaces.

Multiple Discovery instances can now be federated and synchronised across connected and disconnected sites.

ENVITIA Discovery is already deployed in a number of critical defence systems aimed at deploying petabytes of data and supporting 1000’s of concurrent users.  The product can also be deployed in a workgroup environment supporting smaller tactical systems to manage data locally, saving time and money on reloading data or efficiently locating that critical data for the next mission.  Discovery workgroups can be federated as the system expands making more data available to all through a common portal.

ENVITIA Discovery offers a powerful bridge, bringing legacy and off-line geospatial data, and Modelling and Simulation data into the web services environment, while still supporting delivery to legacy systems.

Maximise the value of data throughout your organisation with ENVITIA Discovery.

Commenting on the release, Jonathan Williams, Product Manager of ENVITIA said, “We are excited about the new platform features and confident that Discovery 5 will help our customers to make the connections from ‘what and where’ to ‘when, why and how”.
