This is the company's first foray into the world of educational songs in its twenty year existence. Blue Marble’s geospatial data manipulation, visualization and conversion solutions are used worldwide by thousands of GIS analysts at software, oil and gas, mining, civil engineering, surveying, and technology companies, as well as governmental and university organizations.
The Coordinate System Song is an educational, lyrically geographically oriented children's song in the vein of the Maine Counties song or the United States Capitals song. The company is excited to promote this new endeavor under the musical talents of the Blue Marble Band, a rag-tag bunch of musicians featuring employee musical and writing skills. Though the track clocks in at 45 minutes long, excerpts can be broken out for geographical location and ease of memorization using the new Area of Use polygons found in the Geographic Calculator. Blue Marble's expertise in coordinate systems is well known and now the company is applying that knowledge to a new medium to promote education and publicize the entertainment value of geodetic objects.
Our inspiration came from the various songs some of our employees’ children were learning for memorizing certain geographical areas, states Blue Marble President Patrick Cunningham. We are pleased to provide this educational blueprint to navigating coordinate systems. We were surprised by how easy it is to rhyme different epochs of NAD.
