by | Dec 31, 2013

Houston, Dec. 17, 2013”Visual Intelligence announced two appointments that expand the company's executive team to support its rapid growth in the geospatial market. Phil Kern has been named the company's Executive Vice President of Sales, and Kevin Brown will take on the dual role of Chief Operating Officer and Chief Financial Officer. This expansion of the company's executive team comes on the heels of several other major announcements, including news that Sanborn will utilize Visual Intelligence's iOne n-Oblique geoimaging solution and NEANY will deploy Visual Intelligence's iOne IMS metric mapping solution on UAVs.

Phil and Kevin have tremendous leadership qualities that make them valuable members of our executive team during this period of rapid growth for our company, said Visual Intelligence President and CEO Dr. Armando Guevara. Phil is driving aggressive sales efforts that are expanding the customer base for our iOne multi-purpose geoimaging solutions. Not only do the iOne sensor systems enable our aerial imaging customers to capture more high-resolution and metrically accurate imagery at a lower cost than traditional monolithic aerial digital cameras, but iOne systems also enable our customers to grow their businesses by pursuing new revenue opportunities in emerging markets such as 3D applications. Kevin's leadership on the financial and operations front will be equally valuable, ensuring that we have a strong foundation to support the kind of growth Visual Intelligence is experiencing.

Phil Kern joined Visual Intelligence this year to lead the company's sales organization. He will play a key role in the company's business development and marketing strategy as the EVP of Sales. Before joining Visual Intelligence, Kern was an executive at Intergraph Corporation, where he was in charge of international and overall marketing for the company's Earth Imaging products. He has more than 20 years of sales and product design experience in the industry, a BS degree in Biology from the State University of New York College of Environmental Science and Forestry as well as a BS in Environmental Science from Syracuse University.

Prior to joining Visual Intelligence, Kevin Brown was CEO and Co-Chairman of the Board of Intercomp Technologies LLC, which was recently acquired by Elbrus Capital. He was an executive at M7 Aerospace where he ultimately led the company as Chief Executive Officer until its sale to Elbit Systems of America in 2010. Prior to M7, he managed mergers and acquisitions, equity investments and business development at Crown Castle International. He graduated with honors from Texas Tech University where he earned degrees in finance and economics. He also serves on the Rawls College of Business Advisory Council at Texas Tech and serves on the Board of many of the portfolio companies at 4M Investments.

This is an exciting time to be part of the geospatial imaging industry, said Guevara. Visual Intelligence is delivering on its vision and promise to the industry of bringing to market more affordable and smaller sensors, while at the same time delivering quality, unmatched metric accuracy and multi-functionality so that our customers can do more for less. When companies like Sanborn are adopting the technology, it's clear that the industry is responding”and Phil and Kevin are instrumental in leading the execution of the company's strategy. Having them as part of our senior management team will be very important as we continue to grow and take the next steps to make our iOne Sensor Systems Solutions deployable in other markets such as UVS and handheld/mobile devices.
