COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (June 24, 2019) — The Colorado Space Heroes Hall of Fame was created by the Space Foundation in 2016 to inspire future space heroes and celebrate the astronauts, aerospace executives, government officials, scholars and other public and private sector leaders who have contributed most significantly to the success of Colorado's space economy.

Nominations are now open for honorees to be admitted to the Colorado Space Heroes Hall of Fame in 2020. Anyone may submit a nomination for a Colorado space “hero” whose personal or professional contributions in space spanned a decade or more and lived in Colorado. Nominees may also be awarded posthumously.

The award is presented every two years to outstanding individuals who have distinguished themselves through lifetime contributions to the welfare or betterment of humankind through the exploration, development and utilization of space, or the use of space technology, information, themes or resources in academic, cultural, industrial or other pursuits of broad benefit to humanity.
