Herndon, Va., Jan. 10, 2014”Several speakers have reconfirmed their keynote addresses for the rescheduled GEOINT 2013* Symposium, to be held April 14-17, 2014, at the Tampa Convention Center in Tampa, Fla.

As a result of the October 2013 shutdown of the federal government, the United States Geospatial Intelligence Foundation (USGIF) was forced to postpone its GEOINT 2013 Symposium, originally scheduled for October 2013.

Since the decision to postpone the event, USGIF has experienced an outpouring of support, flexibility, and understanding from all GEOINT 2013 stakeholders.

On behalf of the entire USGIF staff, I want to express our thanks to the GEOINT Community for standing by the Foundation, for the constant expressions of support, and for demonstrating remarkable patience, said USGIF CEO Keith Masback.

Keynote speakers have also extended overwhelming support for the rescheduled dates and many have reconfirmed their commitment, with more expected in the next several weeks. Already confirmed speakers for the April 2014 dates include:

  •     The Honorable James R. Clapper Jr., Director of National Intelligence (DNI)
  •     LTG Michael T. Flynn, U.S. Army, Director, Defense Intelligence Agency (DIA)
  •     Ms. Letitia A. Long, Director, National Geospatial-Intelligence Agency (NGA)
  •     ADM William H. McRaven, U.S. Navy, Commander, U.S. Special Operations Command (USSOCOM)
  •     Ms. Betty J. Sapp, Director, National Reconnaissance Office (NRO)
  •     Mr. Robert Scoble & Mr. Shel Israel, Co-Authors, Age of Context

This week, USGIF re-launched housing and registration for the Symposium. It also on its website explained the event's April 2014 name”GEOINT 2013*”emphasis on the asterisk.

Since the Symposium was postponed as opposed to cancelled, Masback said, we've kept the year 2013 and added an asterisk to the logo. Plus, we'll avoid wasteful spending by simply adhering asterisks to all of the great signage that we already printed and shipped to Tampa in late September. Embrace the asterisk!

More than 90 percent of exhibitors contracted for the October dates have reselected booth space for April, bringing to almost 240 the number of companies, agencies and organizations that will display technology, services and solutions in Tampa.

The annual GEOINT Symposium is the nation's largest intelligence event. With a full day of science and technology discourse, three days of keynote addresses and panel discussions, more than 20 hours of training and education sessions, and 100,000 square feet of exhibits, the GEOINT 2013* Symposium is a can't miss opportunity.
