Influential Geospatial and Built World Thought Leaders to Keynote

Portland, Maine “ USA, November 2, 2021 “ Organizers of Geo Week, the single powerhouse event that champions the coming together of geospatial technologies and the built world, have announced an impressive lineup of keynote sessions exploring the intersection of technology, innovation, and efficiency, and improving our understanding of the built and natural worlds. Geo Week will take place February 6-8, 2022 at the Colorado Convention Center in Denver.

The breadth of our keynote speakers represents the growing convergence across many technologies and industries in pursuit of better, more efficient workflows, a greater understanding of existing project conditions and more effective solutions for complex infrastructure projects, said Lee Corkhill, Group Event Director at Diversified Communications, organizer of Geo Week. Our keynote speakers will touch on the transformative technologies that help us to collaborate, assess, and understand our world better in ways that were not previously possible.

View all keynotes here. The Sunday, February 6 keynote kickoff will feature two perspectives on how technologies are creating new opportunities for collaboration, communication and intelligence. Through his work at Draper, Alan Campbell has designed, developed, and deployed advanced solutions for the world's most difficult and important problems. Campbell will present Exploring the Intersection of Technology, where he will share how combining diverse disciplines can create new intelligence solutions. The keynote will then continue with a presentation from Amy Peck, co-founder and CEO of EndeavorXR and thought-leader in the virtual space. In her presentation, Rethinking Collaboration and Communication Using VR, Peck will provide perspective on how the digital landscape is expanding “ from digital twins to digital humans and even the metaverse “ and how these advances may lead us to rethink our ideas about connection and collaboration.

On Monday, February 7, the keynote session will turn to space as Tara O'Shea, director of Forest Programs at Planet and Michael Zanetti, Planetary Scientist at NASA take the keynote stage. O'Shea will share what advances in machine learning and in the miniaturization of earth observing satellites will mean for earth observation. In her talk, Combining Remote Sensing & Analytics Technologies: Emerging Environmental Applications, O'Shea will highlight how lidar and other advances can be combined to solve difficult climate challenges, including mapping wildfire risk, tracking emissions and monitoring forest carbon stocks. Leaving planet earth, Zanetti will focus his talk, Bringing Light (Detection and Ranging) into Shadow: The Role for Lidar Explorating the Moon, on the applications for lidar technology on future lunar missions. Zanetti's focus will be on the NASA Artemis program, which is targeting the Moon's south pole, an area of strategic importance that presents significant challenges that require creative technical solutions to overcome.

Innovation leader Salla Eckhardt, Director of Transformation Services at Microsoft, will be featured in the Monday afternoon keynote position. With a focus on successful transformation for the AECO industry, her insights will focus on the rapidly-evolving workflows that are at the core of built world processes. In Defining the Digital Building Lifecycle in the Context of Innovation Disruption and Our ˜New Normal', Eckhardt will discuss how rapid growth of urbanization, global sustainability objectives, generational changes in the workforce, and digital transformation of individual companies are re-shaping the industry business models.

The final keynote, a highlight of the International Lidar Mapping Forum program in years past, is the USGS and 3DEP Updates. Kevin Gallagher, Associate Director, Core Science Systems at USGS, will share The Past, Present and Future of the 3D Elevation Program with a look towards the program's future vision on topographic mapping and science at USGS. The session will then break into a panel format featuring additional speakers – to be announced – led by moderator Jason Stoker, Physical Scientist at USGS.

Beyond the keynotes, Geo Week will feature over 125 speakers, in a powerful conference program that will detail practical applications, best practices, and innovative approaches to complex projects. Across the three disciplines under the Geo Week conference umbrella “ AEC, 3D technology and geospatial/lidar “ robust, vendor-neutral education will showcase real-world projects at their best. On the exhibit floor, 100+ solutions providers will showcase the latest geospatial and built-world technology. More than 100+ supporting partners including media outlets, associations, and portals support Geo Week.

Geo Week takes place February 6-8, 2022, with conference programming and exhibits Sunday, February 6 through Tuesday, February 8. Additional features of the programming are vendor-delivered Product Previews, Exhibition Theater programming and workshops. Partner events will also take place at Geo Week, including the ASPRS (American Society for Photogrammetry and Remote Sensing) Annual Conference and the USIBD (US Institute of Building Documentation) Annual Symposium. Programming for these events will be posted soon. Visit https://www.geo-week.com/ for more information on attending or exhibiting. Register before December 10, 2021 for early bird rates.
