COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (September 14, 2020) — Through its Space Certification™ program, Space Foundation builds awareness of the benefits that space exploration and its related technologies bring to life on Earth. By awarding its “seal of approval” to companies whose products and services demonstrate a viable link to the space program, greater public knowledge, acceptance, and appreciation are generated.
The most recent company to become a Space Certification partner is III4Me, Inc. of Prince George’s County, Maryland, for its space-based comic book series. Started in 2017, by then eight-year-old James Edward Collier III in response to bullying he was experiencing, the company’s mission is to be an anti-bullying resource for children around the world. It’s the company’s goal for “every kid to have fun gaming, to change the world by giving, and to do it in awesome gear.” Collier is now officially the youngest Space Certification partner.
The Adventures of Sunkmania Galaxy (SMG) Comic Book Series was launched in 2018. The series follows five galactic superheroes as they rescue planets from the attacks of bullies, explore the vast expanse of the galaxy, discover new alien lifeforms, and create new technology to use in outer space. SMG combines James’ love for outer space, his artistic expression, and his passion for helping other kids. It also introduces young readers to space terminology and concepts, and each issue is packed with action, humor, and practical information that kids can use when confronted by bullying.
Regarding the new partnership, Space Foundation Space Awareness Programs Manager Carah Barbarick said, “James is an amazing young man. Every time we speak, I am impressed by his maturity and desire to help others. We are excited to partner with James as he uses space in a unique way to help kids around the world.”
III4Me, Inc. joins other partners in the “Certified Creative Products” category who create art, music, entertainment, or consumer goods to stimulate the imaginations of users, and increase interest in space travel and exploration.
