Sewall Hires Lee Freeman as Vice President, Global Business Development

Old Town, Maine, April 4, 2013—Sewall is pleased to announce the hire of Lee Freeman as Vice President, Global Business Development.  With 35 years’ experience in forestry and natural renewable resources, Mr. Freeman will lead Sewall’s business development and consultative sales in biomass, carbon and other renewable energy markets, complementing Sewall’s existing staff expertise in engineering, geospatial, and forestry and natural resources consulting.

Mr. Freeman comes to Sewall from Thomson Reuters Lanworth, a natural resource intelligence firm specializing in agriculture, forestry and renewable energy. At Lanworth, he led business development in forestry, energy, and carbon markets, advancing Lanworth’s global business through partnerships and integrated geospatial solutions for real-time agro-forestry monitoring, inventory, and analysis. He also developed a marketing lead generation platform for the acquisition and disposition of land for carbon offset and environmental mitigation projects and timberland, agriculture, commercial real estate development and fiber procurement organizations.

For 20 years previously, Mr. Freeman held various leadership roles in supply chain management, supervising the sourcing of forest products, biomass, and recycled fiber for pulp and paper manufacturing firms, including Bowater, Georgia-Pacific, GNP and Great Northern Nekoosa Corporation. He also led the nonprofit Temperate Forest Foundation as President and CEO, promoting the sustainable and responsible use of renewable resources through research-based publications and outreach programs.

Sewall President/CEO David Edson, LPF, says, “Lee’s combined experience brings us an opportunity to integrate geospatial analytics into traditional investment solutions for the forestry market and other markets we serve.  It will help us meet the needs of our clients nationwide and extend our reach internationally.”

Mr. Freeman has an MBA from Husson University and a BS from the University of Maine.  He will work out of Sewall’s Portland, Maine, office.
