Comtech Telecommunications Corp. Shares Special Esri Award for GIS

Comtech Telecommunications Corp (CMTL) recently announced that one of its key Geographic Information Systems (GIS) solutions developed expressly for Next Generation 9-1-1 has received a prestigious honor from Esri, a leading provider of GIS and mapping products. Esri’s 2016 Special Achievement in GIS Award to the Tennessee Emergency Communications Board (TECB), the government entity responsible for overseeing statewide 9-1-1 operations, recognizes a solution jointly developed and implemented by Comtech and True North Geographic Technologies for TECB. Esri recognized their innovative application of GIS in support of the NG9-1-1 Spatial Information Function (SIF), an integral element of NG9-1-1 operations.

“Our cloud-based SIF involves one of the country’s most innovative uses of GIS for Next Generation 9-1-1,” said Dr. Stanton Sloane, President and Chief Executive Officer of Comtech Telecommunications Corp. “This system validates a caller’s location to a significant level of accuracy, which improves reaction time by emergency responders and ultimately saves lives.”

Comtech currently provides a cloud-based Geographic Information System (GIS) database management product to Tennessee’s emergency telecommunications organization; this technology forms the foundation of a market-leading solution in support of the state of Tennessee’s Next Generation Automatic Location Identification (ALI) solution. In addition to GIS technologies, Comtech also provides data delivery services as well as project management and user access to Comtech’s ISO-9001-rated Network Operations Center.

Comtech Telecommunications Corp. designs, develops, produces and markets innovative products, systems and services for advanced communications solutions. The Company sells products to a diverse customer base in the global commercial and government communications markets.
