Leica Geosystems AG Achieves ISO 9001:2008 and ISO14001:2004 Recertification

Heerbrugg, Switzerland, Oct. 28, 2013—For Leica Geosystems, "when it has to be right" is more than just a tagline. Continuous improvements and regular internal reviews ensure that Leica Geosystems' internal processes are clearly structured and traceable. With the recent ISO recertification, issued by an external accredited assessment and certification body, customers also have an independent validation that highest quality is met at every stage of the development and production process.

The Quality and Environmental Management System of Leica Geosystems AG has been recertified to ISO 9001:2008 and ISO 14001:2004 compliance for the development, manufacture, distribution, support and service of products, precision tools and systems for geomatics, industrial, machine control and construction applications with zero non-conformities.

Fulfilling customers’ and environmental requirements
ISO 9001:2008 specifies the requirements for a company's quality management system where the organization needs to demonstrate its ability to consistently provide products that meet customer needs. ISO 14001:2004 sets the criteria for an environmental management system to improve resource efficiency, reduce waste and minimize environmental impact.

Quality for all procedures and sales and service organizations worldwide
“At Leica Geosystems, quality is not just about products; it also applies to all our processes. All our global production facilities have fulfilled the requirements of ISO 14001, demonstrating our strong commitment to environmental requirements,” said Jürgen Dold, President and CEO of Leica Geosystems.

Leica Geosystems received its first ISO 9001 certification in 1985 and its first ISO 14001 certification in 1998. The company has consistently demonstrated its commitment to quality and environmental sustainability and has continuously developed its processes and systems. The company subsequently received certifications for its worldwide sales and service organizations. With this recent recertification, Leica Geosystems combines all these certificates under one global certification scheme. “The transition to a global certificate is an important step to further align our internal processes globally,” said Gerhard Heimlinger, Director Quality Management of Leica Geosystems.
