In early August, for the first time in China, an unmanned aircraft system (UAS) was used to rapidly model the aftermath of an earthquake at Longtoushan, the quake's epicenter.
The rapid 3-D modeling drone technology, jointly developed by the APF Gold Force and the APF Multi-service Police College and the Institute of Digital China of Peking University, enables geological disaster emergency rescue. The technology combines a multirotor UAS, micro and oblique photography platform, precise positioning system and agile modeling software for use in disaster areas where people are unable to reach and topographic conditions are complex. The technology can simultaneously obtain multiangle video and image information and provide super-high-resolution site data.
