South Africa Uses Satellite Imagery to Help Eradicate an Invasive Bush

The South African National Space Agency is using satellite imagery to detect and map the invasive Bankrupt bush. It is estimated that 11 million hectares of land are covered by the bush, which degrades the soil and negatively affects grazing capacity.

Air Shepherd Uses Drones and Predictive Analytics to Combat Poaching in Africa

An alarming increase in poaching of elephants and rhinos in Africa has led to some innovative approaches to combat the growing problem. Air Shepherd, an initiative of the Lindbergh Foundation, uses unmanned aircraft systems to monitor animals in South Africa.
