Landsat 8 Captures Nebraska's Fall Harvest

The Landsat 8 image of Nebraska above was acquired Sept. 8, 2014, prior to harvest. The image at right was acquired Oct. 26, 2014, after most of the area's crops were harvested.

nebraska_oli_2014299 Nebraska's fall harvest is a bounty, as 45 million acres of farms across the state grow a wide range of crops. As shown in the accompanying Landsat 8 images, the Platte River valley is one of the state's more important agricultural areas.

Landsat 8 and its Operational Land Imager capture and help count yields across the United States. The Landsat mission also helps analysts assess global agricultural yields.
