
The Landsat 8 image of Nebraska above was acquired Sept. 8, 2014, prior to harvest. The image at right was acquired Oct. 26, 2014, after most of the area's crops were harvested.
Nebraska's fall harvest is a bounty, as 45 million acres of farms across the state grow a wide range of crops. As shown in the accompanying Landsat 8 images, the Platte River valley is one of the state's more important agricultural areas.
Landsat 8 and its Operational Land Imager capture and help count yields across the United States. The Landsat mission also helps analysts assess global agricultural yields.
