Leica Zeno GIS: Simplified Positioning with Third Party Applications

by | May 22, 2013

Heerbrugg, Switzerland, May 16, 2013”Leica Geosystems' latest version of Zeno Connect supports the output of local grid coordinates in addition to the already supported output of WGS84 coordinates. The output of local grid coordinates allows Leica Zeno GIS users who have installed a 3rd party GIS application to benefit from Leica Geosystems' high-precision projection and transformation engines. This major enhancement ensures that the mobile application uses reliable GNSS data to deliver highly accurate positions required for many asset collections today.

Leica Zeno Connect is an application within the Leica Zeno GIS solution that ensures that 3rd party mobile GIS software uses reliable and accurate GNSS data. It manages and configures the Zeno GNSS sensors (GS05/06, GG03 and CS25 GNSS) and at the same time enables users to send detailed NMEA messages from the Zeno GNSS sensors to the chosen 3rd party software application. This includes full GNSS receiver status, setup of RTK and NMEA message streaming, and management of RTK sources.

To serve customers worldwide, Zeno Connect now provides more than 3'000 predefined coordinate systems based on the EPSG dataset owned by the OGP (International Association of Oil & Gas Producers) as well as custom coordinate systems defined by Leica Geosystems for certain countries. This makes it easy for users to use their local coordinate system. For highest accuracy, custom datum transformations can be created or Grid files (Country Specific Coordinate System files (CSCS)) can be used.

Whether working with Esri ArcGIS for Windows Mobile®, Intergraph Geomedia, AutoCAD, or any other custom software application that supports NMEA data input, with help of Zeno Connect and the reliable Zeno GNSS sensors, Leica Zeno GIS provides the complete workflow to create and manage GIS asset data with high GNSS accuracy and performance.
