Esri Canada Expands Assessment Analyst with GeoSketch and Mobile

by | Feb 12, 2015

Toronto, Feb. 11, 2015”Esri Canada, the country's leading provider of enterprise geographic information system (GIS) solutions, introduced GeoSketch and Assessment Analyst Mobile extensions to its Assessment Analyst technology suite.  These two new extensions give appraisers advanced sketching capabilities and the ability to access desktop assessment functions in the field when an on-premise inspection is required.

Based on Esri's ArcGIS platform, Assessment Analyst is a fully configurable solution that allows assessors to view and modify Computer-Assisted Mass Appraisal (CAMA) data, building sketches, imagery, street front photos and analytics simultaneously to produce more accurate assessments. By incorporating GIS functionality, a more powerful Geographic-Assisted Mass Appraisal (GAMA) solution is created which provides tools for data collection, audits, maintenance, updates and spatial analysis.

Where Assessment Analyst brings enormous value to the desktop review, these new products extend those efficiencies, commented Michael Lomax, Director of Assessment at Esri Canada.  Mobile delivers the full desktop functionality along with convenience and time-savings by allowing work to be completed in the 5% of cases where an on-site inspection may be required.  GeoSketch enables sketching in a GIS environment and triggers valuation updates in real-time based on the revised area.

GeoSketch

The GeoSketch extension is a spatial geometry editing environment that is tightly integrated with the Assessment Analyst solution. In GeoSketch, georeferenced building sketches provide immediate value in terms of visualization and validation in a spatial context. Data may be used for advanced geographic analysis and change detection over time without costly data conversion efforts. Integrating GIS, imagery visualization and sketch technologies into a complete solution allows the appraiser to resolve most data discrepancies at their workstation. As an integrated part of the Assessment Analyst desktop review, GeoSketch will further streamline operations and increase reappraisal productivity and accuracy.

Assessment Analyst Mobile

While the majority of assessments can now be performed at the desktop with Assessment Analyst, obstructions such as landscape or partial views can result in the need for an on-site review.  Assessment Analyst Mobile enables in-the-field data collection, replacing paper-based forms. This automates the process, allowing all data collected in the field to be entered directly into the database. As a result, the collection and input process happens quickly and data is more consistent. Maps, imagery and workflows can all be integrated into the mobile device for more precise data collection.

Assessment Analyst has proven to be a game changer for the assessment market, said Alex Miller, President, Esri Canada.  Customers have consistently recognized immediate operational and data improvements, as well as additional tax revenues.

Esri Canada will provide live demonstrations of Assessment Analyst and the new GeoSketch and Assessment Analyst Mobile extensions at the 19th GIS/CAMA Technologies Conference, in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma from March 2 “ 5, 2015.  Visit Esri Canada at booth 23-24.
