by | Feb 26, 2014

Vancouver, Canada, Feb. 20, 2014”Safe Software, makers of FME®, the leading spatial data transformation technology, announced today that the agenda for the FME International User Conference taking place July 10th to 13th in Vancouver, Canada, is now available online.  Designed to help attendees sharpen their FME skills and explore trends in data and spatial technology, the first three days' activities will feature a mixture of guest keynote speakers, presentations, and social events, followed by an optional fourth day of training sessions.

The conference occurs as Safe celebrates 20 years of working with spatial data and as such the theme is Exploring the Future of Data and Location, which investigates what's in store for this exciting industry.  In addition to hearing from Safe's staff and FME users, attendees will have the unique opportunity to take in five future-looking keynotes by senior industry leaders representing long-time Safe partners:

  • Damien Spangrud, Director of Solutions for Esri;
  • Paul Ramsey, Geospatial Architect at Boundless (formerly OpenGeo);
  • Robert Bray, Senior Software Architect at Autodesk;
  • Brad Skelton, Chief Technology Strategist of Hexagon Geospatial Division; and
  • Adam Evans, Manager, Enterprise Geospatial at Google Canada.

Over 80 Safe and customer presentations are scheduled over the course of the first three days across a variety of different topics related to FME. Also during this time attendees have rare access to Safe developers and support staff at the Doctor's Office, a designated area for users to seek assistance for their particular projects.

The fourth day consists of optional full and half-day hands-on training sessions. These are offered exclusively through the FME International User Conference and cover topics beyond the basics, for users wishing to develop more advanced FME skills.

Of course no FME event would be complete without hearing from Safe's captivating co-founders: Don Murray, President and Co-CEO; and Dale Lutz, Vice President of Development and Co-CEO.  The duo will kick off the conference with opening remarks and will be accessible throughout the duration of the event.

This is going to be a fun and informative four days for FME users of all experience levels, and from all industries, says Murray. There will be something for everyone as we showcase FME's capabilities, hear from industry leaders, and provide opportunities for Safe staff and FME users to interact, share ideas, and learn from each other.

Anyone is welcome to attend the conference and the early bird discount is available to those who register before March 31, 2014. To sign up or to find out more information visit www.fmeuc.com.
