Anchorage, Alaska, May 7, 2013”DAT/EM Systems International has hired Patrick A Teagarden as Technical Support and UAS Specialist.

In 1982, Patrick Teagarden enlisted in the US Army as a SIGINT Intelligence Analyst and afterwards continued as a government contract UAV telemetry analyst. With the winding down of the Cold War, Teagarden returned to California where he started EdTech Consulting Service where he consulted to school districts on the application of technology in the classroom. In 1995, Teagarden turned his attention to aviation where after three years of flying for his technology business, he earned his FAA Airline Transport Pilot and flight instructor certificates.

Over the next 10 years, he flew 6000+ accident and incident free hours as a corporate pilot for Intel Corporation and as the government contract standardization pilot for the US Army at the Ronald Reagan Missile Test Range in Republic of the Marshall Islands. In 2000, after completing a two year contract flying both fixed and rotor wing aircraft in remote areas of the Pacific, Teagarden and his family moved to Alaska taking a pilot position with Cape Smythe Air in Nome, Alaska. Since that initial Alaska experience, he has worked for Security Aviation, Lake Clarke Air, and ADS-B Technologies as the Pilot/Program Manager for the Japanese Aerospace Exploration Agency’s (JAXA) “DREAMS” program.

Teagarden later became an instructor at the US Army Unmanned Aerial System Training Battalion (UASTB), Fort Huachuca, Arizona. After a year of teaching soldiers, Teagarden was recruited by AAI Corporation to be a UAV test operator and instructor for the US Army MQ-1C “GrayEagle” Predator program. After conducting flight tests, initial cadre instruction and Hellfire missile integration tests, he went to Iraq twice where he served as a mission operator and instructor for QRC 1/2.

Teagarden has a Bachelor’s of Applied Science degree in Aviation Operations, a Graduate Certificate in Geospatial Intelligence Analysis, and a master’s degree in Homeland Security also from Penn State University. In addition to formal academic work, Teagarden has completed several FEMA courses in disaster management, is a volunteer Disaster Action Team Captain with the American Red Cross, and he is interested in furthering Alaska's application of UAS in support of disaster management.

We are pleased to have Patrick on board and look forward to capitalizing on his past experience to help strengthen DAT/EM's already highly regarded technical support capabilities says Jeffrey Yates, General Manager.
