The Western Australian Land Information System posted bathymetric survey data online to facilitate data sharing.

The Western Australian Land Information System (WALIS) posted bathymetric survey data online to facilitate decision making about the coast near Perth, Australia. The online repository shows the range of publicly available bathymetric/hydrographic survey data held by the Department of Transportation.

The LiDAR data are available for viewing as well as download as part of a broader mission to capture and share marine, coastal and environmental data along the coast. The effort is part of a larger Managing Coastal Vulnerability (MCV) Project to facilitate data access and provide up-to-date authoritative marine information for timely decision making about coastal development and environmental protection.

By providing the data online, WALIS hopes to increase interagency and intergovernmental collaboration as well as improved marine data maintenance. Further details about the MCV project can be found online.
