The DigitalGlobe Foundation is uniquely positioned to help prepare the geospatial leaders of tomorrow, said Jeffrey R. Tarr, President and Chief Executive Officer of DigitalGlobe. We believe that providing the best possible high-resolution commercial satellite imagery to advance research and education will equip students and institutions help realize our purpose of Seeing a Better Worldâ„¢.
The Foundation was established on the belief that we have a unique opportunity to help educate students about the important uses of commercial satellite imagery, and geospatial analytics, said Mark Brender, Executive Director of the DigitalGlobe Foundation. From space-based Earth observations comes knowledge and awareness, and from knowledge and awareness comes action to help solve the challenging problems facing humankind.
As part of its long-term initiatives, the DigitalGlobe Foundation is particularly pleased to expand its partnership with U.S. Geospatial Intelligence Foundation (USGIF). Herndon, Va.-based USGIF sponsors and promotes geospatial educational programs and has accredited geospatial programs at eight universities.
