ORBIT introduces Gaia-100 Reception Ground Station Solution for Real-Time Data Capturing from Earth Observation Satellites

Tampa, Fla., April 10, 2014—ORBIT Communication Systems, a leading provider of elite mission-critical connectivity solutions for Satellite Communication, Earth Observation, Communication Management systems and Tracking Telemetry systems, introduces its newest innovative reception ground station solution – the Gaia™-100 series.

The Gaia-100 series is a compact, high-performance ground station solution for tracking Low Earth Orbit (LEO) satellites in earth observation and remote sensing applications. The innovative Gaia-100 is designed specifically for GIS experts, value added service providers and researchers looking to download real-time data and reduce operational costs.

“With our new Gaia-100 series, ORBIT addresses a void in the market, and opens the door to new players in earth observation markets who could not afford to purchase legacy ground stations due to their size and cost," said Ofer Greenberger, CEO of ORBIT Communication Systems. "The Gaia series is specifically designed to reduce the turnover time from data capture to analysis, at a fraction of the cost of legacy ground stations.

The Gaia-100 ground station is built for use in a broad range of challenging applications, with the ruggedness to withstand extreme weather conditions.  Among those markets that can immediately benefit from the Gaia-100 are; weather monitoring professionals, Oil&Gas exploration companies, ocean and climate monitoring experts, and disaster control specialists.

Supporting antenna sizes from 2.4 meters (7.9 feet) to 3.7 meters (12.1 feet) and up to 4.5 meters (14.7 feet), Gaia-100 can be installed on building roofs, rig platforms or in an open field. The Gaia-100 antennas support X-band or S-Band (both transmit and receive) feeds, as well as a dual-band (S&X) feed.

Gaia is an end-to-end ground station system covering the complete RF chain. With a global support presence and more than 60 years of experience in satellite tracking, ORBIT provides a reliable turnkey ground station solution with full responsibility for system delivery, installation and service issues.

ORBIT will be exhibiting at GEOINT2013 Booth#977, April 15-17, 2014, at the Tampa Convention Center. All guests will be eligible for a raffle to win an iPAD 32g.
