Optech Announces New Lynx MG1 Mapping-Grade Mobile Mapper

by | Jun 12, 2013

Toronto, June 4, 2013”Optech, the world leader in the development, manufacture and support of advanced lidar and camera survey instruments, is pleased to announce the release of its Lynx MG1 (Mapping Grade) Mobile Mapperâ„¢. The Lynx MG1 has been designed for mapping projects that require lower absolute accuracy than design engineering projects, but would still benefit from the unparalleled resolution and data quality delivered by a Lynx system.

We are excited about this system because it offers our users tremendous value, says Albert Iavarone, Business Unit Manager at Optech. It is positioned at a price point that is competitive in the lower-accuracy mobile mapping environment, while continuing to offer best-in-class laser data quality. In many ways the user is getting the best of both worlds. For added value, the Lynx MG1 uses the same processing workflow as the survey-grade model, and can be upgraded after delivery if the customer needs higher absolute accuracy.

The Lynx MG1 represents a natural move for Optech, says Don Carswell, CEO of Optech. The Lynx Mobile Mapper has led the way in the survey-grade market, and now we are moving to provide the mapping-grade market with the same precise and efficient lidar technology. We are focused on the mobile mapping sector and are providing surveyors with high-quality sensors, no matter what their desired accuracy or price-point.

The Optech Lynx MG1 system is expected to be available for delivery at the end of June in conjunction with Optech's Third Imaging and Lidar Solutions Conference, being held in Toronto, Canada on June 25-27. ILSC 2013 is an open forum where current and prospective users of Optech products, along with other industry professionals, can discuss best practices and explore practical “real-world” lidar and camera solutions.
