Microsoft Adds to UltraCam Technical Support in Boulder, Colo.

by | Apr 16, 2014

Graz, Austria, April 15, 2014”The Microsoft UltraCam business unit demonstrates its continued commitment to the UltraCam product line and its customers worldwide by announcing the expansion of the technical support team based in Boulder, Colo.

Since May 2013, the team has grown from three staff members to a total of nine, which includes a photogrammetrist, implementation engineers, and a logistics technician. The photogrammetrist assists customers with accuracy issues and their transition from analog to digital work flows. Implementation engineers travel offsite to handle repairs and installations, as well as perform routine annual camera service and calibration at the Boulder lab. With cameras arriving from all around the world, the logistics technician is responsible for efficiently shipping and tracking the valuable cameras after work is complete.

By adding to our available resources in Boulder, the support team is able to respond more quickly to questions and requests for service and installations, said Carl Smith, Microsoft Lead Implementation Engineer. We expect the team will continue to grow at a rapid pace to keep up with the number of systems being introduced into the field.

Our Boulder lab supports the entire Microsoft UltraCam commercial product line and internal Microsoft programs, Smith continued. Due to the complexity of the technology, we look for candidates from top engineering schools, professionals with military electronics backgrounds and specialists with image processing expertise.

Microsoft's UltraCam business unit has taken a further step to support its customers by setting up three dedicated telephone numbers through which specially trained staff are available for support requests 24/7 from anywhere in the world. Depending on the time of day, customers will be connected to a support team in Graz, Austria; Boulder, Colorado; or Singapore. The goal is to minimize camera downtime by answering questions and quickly shipping spare parts without delay.

The Graz support team consists of nine support engineers, and Singapore has an additional three support personnel. The Singapore office is operated by ImageMaps, an in-country Microsoft partner. The Graz, Singapore and Boulder facilities are each equipped with a calibration lab and a workshop to repair and check cameras. In addition, United RST and Beijing Siwei provide comprehensive after-sales technical support and repair services for all UltraCam systems in the People's Republic of China.
