URISA’s GIS-Pro Conference Offers Student Volunteer Opportunities

Des Plaines, Ill., Aug. 19, 2013—Students have the opportunity to apply to be a volunteer during GIS-Pro 2013: URISA’s 51st Annual Conference for GIS Professionals, and receive a complimentary registration in return for their service. GIS-Pro 2013 will be held in Providence, RI at the Rhode Island Convention Center from September 16-19, 2013. Student volunteers are needed to assist with registration, monitor workshops and breakout sessions, contribute to various social networks to keep followers afar engaged, and assist with other various tasks and responsibilities as needed by URISA staff.

“Volunteering at GIS-Pro is a great opportunity for students,” says Wendy Nelson, Executive Director at URISA. “Networking at conferences with GIS Professionals is the BEST skill to develop in order to find connections for future employment.”

An application form has been posted on the conference website. Students interested in applying for a volunteer position should submit the completed form by August 28. Applicants will be notified by September 4 if they have been selected as a volunteer for the conference; student volunteers will receive complimentary conference registration, but are responsible for travel and hotel costs.
