URISA’s GIS-Pro 2016 Conference in Toronto Approved for Nearly 50 AICP-CM Credits

Des Plaines, Illinois USA – URISA is pleased to announce that GIS-Pro 2016: URISA’s 54th Annual Conference was recently approved for 49.5 AICP-CM credits. The conference, taking place in Toronto, Ontario from October 31- November 3, features workshops, dozens of breakout sessions, keynote addresses and more.

Approved AICP-CM credits range from 8.5 for participation in full-day URISA workshops (Asset Management: Planning, Strategy and Implementation and GIS Supporting Community Resiliency); 3.5 credits for half-day workshops (Cybersecurity Awareness); and 1.0 to 1.5 credits for each of twenty-one breakout sessions on topics ranging from GIS and Urban Planning to Community Mapping and Public Participation.

The American Institute of Certified Planners (AICP) is the American Planning Association’s professional institute and the recognized leader in certifying professional planners and promoting ethical planning, professional development, planning education, and standards of practice. To maintain their certification, AICP members are required to continue their education through Certification Maintenance (CM) credits.  In order to maintain certification, AICP members must earn a total of 32 certification maintenance (CM) credits (1 contact hour = 1 CM credit) within their two-year reporting period.

The Ontario Professional Planners Institute (OPPI) represents over 4,000 professional planners and over 500 student members. Members work for government, private industry, community agencies and academic institutions in a variety of specialties across the province. OPPI members are encouraged to use the CPL Program Guide to determine potential eligibility for Continuous Professional Learning credits.
