GI Forum 2014 Issues Call for Papers

Salzburg, Austria, Oct. 17, 2013”Geospatial technologies benefit society in a variety of areas such as infrastructure management, ecological monitoring, humanitarian activities and learning. At the same time, recent innovations raise new questions concerning not only methods of analysis, representation, and visualization, but also concerning control, surveillance, privacy and ethics that need to be addressed.

GI_Forum 2014 (www.gi-forum.org), which will be held July 1 “ 4, 2014, in Salzburg, provides a platform for dialogue among technologists and critical thinkers, GIScientists and educationalists in an ongoing effort to address these issues and thus support the creation of an informed GISociety. Bearing in mind different perspectives of these topics from a variety of professions, presentations, workshops and exhibitions will concentrate on innovations in technologies, science and education in the spatial domain and their possible contribution to a more just, ethical and sustainable society. Prominent keynote speakers will highlight new developments, offer insights into trends and visions, and at the same time be available for our Young Researchers’ Corner for more individualised interaction with young researchers.

Themes & Application Fields. The GI_Forum presents original research on innovations in the field of geospatial technologies across a range of scientific and technological domains. GI_Forum solicits contributions in full paper and extended abstract versions in, but not limited to the following topics:

  • Innovations in geospatial technologies
  • Advances in GIScience
  • Spatial technologies
  • Monitoring Global Change
  • Citizenship and education
  • Education with digital earth
  • Learning Environments in Primary and Secondary Education

GI_Forum is organized by the Department of Geoinformatics “ Z_GIS in cooperation with the Austrian Academy of Sciences and the German University of Technology in Muscat, Oman and runs concurrently with the highly regarded German language conference on Applied Geoinformatics “ AGIT. The two symposia share the innovative AGIT EXPO exhibit and stimulating social events.

Submission: Types & Deadlines. GI_Forum 2014 gives authors choices about the type of submission they want to make in order to accommodate a variety of interdisciplinary contributions. Submissions must be in English language. The review is double-blind. Consult the author information guidelines published at the conference website for further details.

We will accept online submissions only, starting from December, 1st 2013 at www.gi-forum.org. Publication will be both hardcopy and online (see www.austriaca.at/gi_forum).
