Aug. 12, 2014, Alexandria, Va.”Focusing on the ability to help engineering and geospatial firms expand their professional services into the international market, the Geospatial & Engineering International Conference program committee announced today the program for the two-day conference being held September 25-26, 2014 at the Westin Hotel in Alexandria, Virginia.
“The program provides attendees with critical insight into assistance provided by U.S. government agencies to firms beginning to work in the international market and discover the clients in need of services provided by geospatial and engineering firms,” said Brian Raber, Program Chair (Merrick & Company, Greenwood Village, CO). “No matter if a firm is exploring the possibility of entering the market outside the United States or already working around the globe, the program will provide business leaders knowledge on how to effectively navigate the international market.”

Conference sessions will feature organizations that finance, procure, coordinate, and manage geospatial and engineering projects outside the Unites States. Officials from agencies and non-governmental organizations will discuss their programs, budgets, requirements and procurement procedures for geospatial and engineering services. In addition, private sector professionals experienced in global business will share best practices and lessons learned. Sessions will provide private sector companies that are new or exploring markets outside the United States with information on how to work globally from experienced firms and experiences with strategic planning, laws, culture, regulations, safety and insurance. Experienced firms working overseas will benefit from discussions with exporting experts and potential clients.
The conference is being organized by MAPPS, the national association for private sector geospatial firms. Supporting organizations include Association of American Geographers (AAG), American Council of Engineering Companies of Metropolitan Washington (ACEC/MW), American Society for Photogrammetry and Remote Sensing (ASPRS), Construction Industry Round Table (CIRT), Global Spatial Data Infrastructure Association (GSDI), National Society of Professional Surveyors (NSPS), and the Urban and Regional Information Systems Association (URISA).
