Poland Chooses MobileMapper 300 to Spot-Check Compliance for EU Direct Pay Subsidies

Krakow, March 14, 2016 — The agency responsible for the supervision and control of European Union agricultural subsidies in Poland, the Agency for Restructuring and Modernization of Agriculture (ARMA), has purchased 118 MobileMapper 300 smart antennas.  The Spectra Precision MobileMapper 300 is a GPS/GLONASS/SBAS L1/L2 receiver specifically designed to be combined with a variety of mobile devices, including smart phones and tablets, running any third-party GIS application. When the MobileMapper 300 is synchronized with the mobile device, the device and the application running on it benefits from the position provided by the MobileMapper 300 with accuracies much greater than those from the internal GPS.

ARMA is charged with verifying, through on-the-spot measurement of planted areas during the growing season, that the size of the declared cultivation and cultivated plant species are in line with the request for EU subsidies.  The farms are selected for spot checks either randomly or through risk analysis.

The MobileMapper 300 was selected by ARMA because it enabled the agency to choose their preferred tablet solution, the Getac V110, and interface with their existing QGIS-based GIS application.  NaviGate, Ltd., the Spectra Precision distributor in Poland, wrote the software for the MobileMapper 300 to provide accurate GIS measurement to the ARMA QGIS open source GIS back office solution. The rugged and lightweight MobileMapper 300 easily connects via Bluetooth to the Windows 8 Getac V110 tablet to get network corrections using an NTRIP client to deliver the sub-meter accuracy the EU regulations require. The complete set of equipment includes a backpack with the MobileMapper 300 smart antenna receiver, a Getac V110 tablet and harness for hands-free operation.

About the MobileMapper 300
The MM300 is an easy-to-use smart antenna for accurate GIS collection designed for use in combination with a wide variety of mobile devices, including smart phones, tablets, and notebook computers.  It works with any geo-enabled android application.
