New Focus on Crime Mapping: Town of Davie, FL

by | May 16, 2016

Goldsboro, N.C. ” The Town of Davie, FL is no stranger to the team at Geographic Technologies Group.  Since 2005, GTG has worked with the Town on a total GIS implementation, and they have used previous versions of GTG’s products for Public Safety.  In April of this year, the Town of Davie’s Police Department wanted to continue to advance their GIS and analytical capabilities, partnering again with GTG to utilize the cutting edge Vantage Points Public Safety Analyst (PSA) software.

Along with implementing Vantage Points PSA, the Town leveraged data mining middleware from GTG (GeoMax) to create GIS data layers from their OSSI records management system. Additionally, the Davie team implemented MapNimbus from GTG for public crime mapping.  MapNimbus leverages the best GIS functionality to ensure ease-of-use and an intuitive interface for the public.

James Kelt, Public Safety Director for GTG, points out, “The suite of tools implemented at Davie are exciting.  Staff can quickly view, analyze, and predict crime.  They have a much better understanding of patterns of incidents and staff are very excited to be using the advanced analytical tools to include social media integration.  Also, the new MapNimbus interface is the best on the market.  I have used a variety of the public facing crime mapping tools and it is refreshing to see a tool that harnesses the power of GIS while maintaining an intuitive interface.”  Both GTG and the Town of Davie are looking forward to the positive outcomes of their new public safety software implementation.
