by | May 22, 2013

Sheboygan, Wis., May 15, 2013”AeroMetric presented the St. Louis U.S. Army Corps of Engineers with special recognition including an inscribed award and project poster for “Creating an On Target Geospatial Foundation for the Navajo Housing Authority.” The award and poster were duplicates of the ones that AeroMetric was honored with the at the MAPPS conference in November 2012. This is the second year in a row that AeroMetric has been honored with the MAPPS Geospatial Services Excellence Grand Award.

Ted Stanton, administrator of the Navajo Housing Authority project for the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, said, The services AeroMetric provided for the Navajo Housing Authority project reflect well on the value that AeroMetric and the geospatial profession bring to the development and economic growth of our nation. The NHA specific map projection, detailed digital elevation data, and four-band orthoimagery provide a comprehensive digital land base for the Authority's new land information system.

About the Project

AeroMetric faced several major challenges associated with this project: dealing with the complexity of five state plane coordinate systems and two UTM zones, coordinating image acquisition over a vast area in a very short time frame, and addressing the rugged terrain and the unforgiving variations of reflectivity in the desert surface. AeroMetric creatively solved the multiple challenges presented.

MAPPS Executive Director John Palatiello, said “The awards highlight AeroMetric's ability to work with clients to provide solutions that are within budget, and have long lasting societal benefits.”

AeroMetric's resources were augmented by the valuable contributions provided by team members Towill, Surdex, and Aerial Surveys International.
